Residential

OVERVIEW OF RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

We Provide 92 places within our residential and supported housing projects, 40 our within our residential therapeutic communities(Clearwater house and Dumbarton House in North Belfast and Glencarn House in Glengormley), with 6 places for daycare in these facilities. We have 52 places available in our supported housing facilities at Sophia House in Glengormley, Belfat community flats in north and south Belfast. Chikara house in south Belfast and Kharaminn House in Portrush. We have achieved independent accreditation for all our facilities From the Association of Therapeutic Communities via their Community of Communities inspection framework, All of our facilities are also inspected through the Northern Ireland Housing Executive Supporting People Quality Assurance Framework..

FLOATING SUPPORT SERVICE

We also provide a Floating Support Service for up to 50 clients which gives support to help people with mental ill-health problems remain within their own homes. This service continues to be busy with referrals and has proved to be an essential lifeline to those who depend on our support. This service is again monitored and inspected by Supporting People (NIHE).

Research

The research department routinely collects and analyses outcome data across all of our services. This ensures we are creating an evidence based culture in the agency where the emphasis is on using the best and most effective interventions with our clients.

Primary Care, Youth and Childrens Services

CHILD & ADOLESCENT PSYCHOTHERAPY & COUNSELLING SERVICES

Within the Primary Care Service, the Child Psychotherapy and Counselling Services provides 12 - 15 week interventions to children and adolescents. These clinics are held within the Western Health & Social Care Trust areas of Strabane, Enniskillen, Omagh and Derry. Our contract with the Northern Health & Social Care Trust also means that we have referrals from the Glengormley and Antrim areas. All referrals are made through the respective local CAMH's teams or GP's. Our outcome research studies have shown that after using our service, children are less afraid to speak about their problems and difficulties they are experiencing.

DRUG & ALCOHOL OUTREACH SERVICES

Based within the north Antrim area, this services acts as a 'signposting service', assisting people with alcohol and drug addiction to seek help from statutory services. Demand for these type of services is very high and if present trends are anything to go by, they will not be lessening any time soon. The surging uprise in the numbers of younger as well as older people with addictions to alcohol or drugs/or both continues to cause concern and distress, not only to the users but also to their wider family circle. Constant threats from 'legal highs' and other 'hard' drugs presents a challenging and on-going job for our outreach workers to deal with.

Training

Our comprehensive in-service training programme, which has recently been re-accredited by investors in People(liP), supports staff in both in-service and external training. The main components are:

QCF qualification to ensure highest standard of training for staff.
Continued professional development opportunities for all professionally qualified staff.
In-service training programme which covers all aspects of housing, social care and therapeutic work.
