This project consists of both the Floating Support Service, which has been operating since 2004, and Threshold Supported Flats, which covers two separate sites in Belfast. The team has developed and grown over the past number of years and currently has 8 members. The Floating Support Service is aimed at people living independently in their own homes, who are suffering from or recovering from mental health difficulties. The purpose of the service is to allow clients to remain in their own homes and to build links and become more active in their local community. The service also provides support to those moving on from residential/supported Threshold accommodation into the wider community.
We have 30 places in this service to help people with mental health problems remain in their own homes. Funded by the N.I. Housing Executive, through their Supporting People programme, this services ensures that people can retain their independence with the support of outreach workers whose aim is to establish a sound working/therapeutic alliance so that individuals can overcome their difficulties and remain within the community.
